Business Centres

Business centres house many different business in one shared office building. They usually cater for more than one person per office, unlike many desk space rentals.

Business centres can usually offer one person offices through to larger office suites to rent to much bigger companies. A range of business support services are usually available at additional cost.

There are many advantages to using a business centre:

  • Pay only for the office space you need - no wasted rent eating into profits.
  • Reception to meet and greet clients.
  • Secretarial support is usually available.
  • Prices are usually all inclusive. No extra charges for business rates, electricity or heating.
  • Leasing terms (sometimes called ‘licences’) can be very flexible.

There can be disadvantages to choosing a business centre, such as :

  • Rates quoted are often for long term office leases.
  • Phone and internet access are not always included in the price.
  • It’s easy to run up costs on these ‘extras’ - be sure to budget.
  • Some people dislike the working environment

Some companies use business centres long-term, where others see them as a stop-gap while they gauge how fast their company will grow. For small business startups, business centres can provide an excellent service.

Larger companies may use business centres while expanding in a new area, taking the office space on a short lease while they consider longer-term office space options.
